The body of teenage Honor student and Charlotte, North Carolina native Phylicia Barnes was found this week floating in the Susquehanna River in Baltimore, Maryland.  This is a tragic ending to the four month long search for Phylicia who was last seen at her half-sister’s house in the Baltimore area.  According to Phylicia’s sister, the two communicated by text  at around 12:30 pm on the day of her disappearance.  Phylicia was said to have been going for something to eat and sadly was not seen alive again.

Phylicia’s father Russell Barnes spoke with HLN and had this to say:

“She’s a well-loved individual, with everyone,” Russel Barnes told HLN’s “Nancy Grace.””We’re still not finished,” Russell Barnes said.  “We’re going to find out what happened with Phylicia … There are a lot of answers that we need to find out.”

Our prayers and condolences are with the family of Phylicia Barnes.  There are way too many tragic stories like this in our world today.  We need to get back to the days where the entire community would watch out for everyone’s kids.  We lose more of our young talented kids to senseless violence.  Look out for each other, so that we all can secure a better future.
