After years of highly-sexualized stories of her alleged escapades with top hip hop and rap artists where made popular in her book Confessions of a Video Vixen, author and model Karrine Steffans is now saying that her tales of passions were fabricated. Earlier this year, she wrote:

For the past six years, I’ve been playing a part, putting on for the crowd, and sparking controversy to market books. And boy did it work! And then –– I got bored. I would put on my make-up and my clothes and practice my words in the mirror at home. I would plant things about myself in the media, air all my grievances, and make everyone talk and talk and talk, then sit back and laugh as I watched the crowd spin and the books sell.

I am a master at this. Still, once you’ve mastered something, you tend to grow tired of it and desire to move on

In a video, filmed recently, Karrine further claims that the Vixen doesn’t exist.

“I’m an old bird. I’m not 18 anymore. I’m not 20-something anymore. Who the hell wants to be a 45-year-old vixen? Pamela Anderson couldn’t even pull it off.[…]I don’t want to be 40-something-years-old and can’t get a f–king job because I’m 40-something-years-old and my ‘thing’ is being sexy. Sex doesn’t last forever but what I have up here does. I’m a writer. I write s–t. The vixen doesn’t exist. You can’t tell people that because they don’t believe that. It was all fabricated. I didn’t even name my books. Confessions of a video Vixen is not…I would have never named that book that. Somebody else named that book.”

“I don’t want to be on TV. I don’t want to do any of this. This is ridiculous. I want to be anonymous. I want to be anonymous. Authors are supposed to be anonymous. We’re not supposed to be on TV, we’re not supposed to be doing any of those things. We’re supposed to be sitting down, getting drunk, smoking opiates, writing some amazing s–t . That’s what we all do.[…]We create the things that you want to see. Everything is written first.”

The fact that she filmed this wearing only her underwear makes what was said even more comical. “What part wasn’t real”? We need clarification. This confession may have crushed confused women like Kat Stacks dreams. Now they need someone new to look up to…
