Three kids and 24 years after “Parents Just Don’t Understand,” rap’s Will Smith may be returning to the hip-hop game.
It seems music producer Mars Edwards, who’s worked with Game and T.I., spilled the beans to XXL magazine.
“We’re working on Will Smith, bringing him back,” he said.
Will, a three-time Grammy winner, was just a teen when he first hit the rap scene in the ‘80s. He’ll be 44-years-old in September, making him one of—if not the—oldest rappers still making new music for a genre mostly populated by artists who were toddlers when Will first came out.
When “Parents Just Don’t Understand” hit the airwaves in ’87, Lil Wayne was just 5-years-old.
Will released his last album, Lost and Found, in 2005. The album was certified Gold that same year.
Although there’s no question about Will’s box-office appeal, some music fans are wondering if Will, who’s been nominated for two Oscars, should just stick to acting.
