CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) –

The woman who got behind the wheel while drunk and killed two people was sentenced to 31-years behind bars on Tuesday.

Takara Kelley was also driving under suspension when she killed the Cleveland grandparents and injured their grandchildren.

On February 6th, the 27-year-old was drunk – more than double the legal limit – when she ran a red light and hit the car carrying a family in the area of West 74th Street and Franklin Boulevard.

“The black box data from the car’s computer indicates a speed of 78 miles per hour one second before impact,” said Assistance County Prosecutor Steven Gall. “This is, again, in a 25 an hour zone.”

Grandparents Louis Vasquez and Juanita Gonzalez died at the scene. The couple’s three grandchildren were injured, and have since recovered.

Kelley did apologize to the victims family during sentencing.
