KENT, OH (WOIO) –

Police are investigating after a Kent State student was found dead in his dorm room.

26-year-old James Barnes of Midland, PA was found in his room after his family contacted police to do a welfare check.

Barnes was discovered Sunday afternoon around 5PM on the fourth floor of Leebrick Hall – which houses freshmen and upperclassmen. The building is located in the Tri-Towers area, on the eastern edge of the KSU campus.

An initial autopsy was complete on Monday, but officials still don’t know the exact cause of death. Foul play is not suspected.

Barnes was in MBA program, a first semester graduate student.

Friends describe him as a nice guy who kept to himself.
