CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) –

Big changes in the operations of the EMS and Fire Departments announced by Mayor Frank Jackson on Tuesday morning.

Mayor Jackson announced personnel changes in the Divisions of EMS and Fire and in the Department of Public Safety.

Mayor Jackson appointed Edward Eckart, Jr. from EMS Chief to Lead Integration of EMS and Fire. Fire Chief Paul Stubbs announced his retirement. Stubbs’ replacement has yet to be selected.

The Mayor expects a full integration EMS and Fire by the end of 2012.

That has been talked about for years and years, and Mayor Frank Jackson has been committed to pushing that forward.

19 Action News has learned Eckart will be considered a double dipper because he retired as EMS Commissioner and the city rehired him in his new position.
