AKRON, OH (WOIO) –
Akron Police have a man in custody they say beat his child over homework.
Christopher Curry, 39, of Akron has been charged with Felonious Assault, Felony Child Endangering, Domestic Violence and Child Endangering.
Police say the 5-year-old girl was beaten by Curry because she could not do her homework.
Officers were called to the home Wednesday to check on a five-year-old girl.
When they arrived, the child was screaming with tears pouring down her face.
Witnesses tell police, Curry got angry when the little girl did not understand “d” in the alphabet.
Witnesses say he picked her up by her neck, struck her in the face and head and used a belt to whip her.
Officers observed multiple knots on child’s head, with a large swollen lump on left temple area. Her left eye was almost swollen completely shut and she had a cut lip.
Curry admitted to hitting his daughter.
The child was transported to Akron Childrens hospital for evaluation.
