SOLON, Ohio – Two women were arrested after Solon people say they stole more than $2,000 worth of merchandise from an Old Navy store.

The theft happened around 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the Old Navy on Kruse Drive in Solon.

According to police, officers responded to the store for a report of four people shoplifting, who left in a white SUV with Florida license plates. Solon police stopped the SUV on route 422 near Brainard Road, which was occupied by two women matching store employees’ descriptions.

Solon police said they compared the women to video surveillance from the store, and arrested Markqetta Petty, 19, and Jessica Mitchell, 24, both of Cleveland. The two were charged with receiving stolen property. Petty was also charged with obstructing official business because police say she initially used her younger sister’s name.

Solon officers did not locate the other two suspects. Officers said they recovered $2,955.48 in merchandise from the SUV.
