NORTH CANTON, Ohio – Triple-A predicts nearly 92 million people will travel 50 miles or more this holiday season. While air travel is down nationwide, it is expected to be up locally.

Kristie VanAuken, Senior Vice President of the Akron-Canton Airport, said she expects about a 10 percent increase this year compared to last.

With the increase, she recommends you arrive 90 minutes prior to your flight for the next ten days to make sure you have plenty of time to make your flight. 

“The busiest time at the airport is between 5:30 and 7 a.m. in the morning, so particularly if you are coming to the airport be sure that you allow allow yourself plenty of extra time in the morning,” VanAuken said.

If you are not an experienced traveler you can go to tsa.gov for helpful tip to make your trip to the airport go as smooth as possible. The TSA also has a special “TSA Cares” hotline for people who have special medical needs who may require extra help getting through security. The toll free number is 855-787-2227.
