(WOIO) –

New developments surrounding convicted serial killer Anthony Sowell.

A State Supreme Court ruling means Sowell will live at least a little longer. The court just granted a stay of his execution since his first full appeal hasn’t been filed yet.

19 Action News has learned that the attorneys handling Sowell’s appeal took themselves off the case over a dispute about how much the court would pay them.  The court appointed a new defense team.

51-year-old Sowell was sentenced to death for the murder of eleven women between June 2007 and September 2009. The victims’ remains were found inside and outside of Sowell’s Imperial Avenue home in Cleveland.

Sowell had been set to die as early as October of this year.
