BEREA, OH (WOIO) –

It’s official — Trent Richardson from the University of Alabama is coming to Cleveland.

A little than one hour prior to the 2012 NFL Draft the Browns made a trade with the Minnesota Vikings to acquire the third overall pick in the draft.  The Browns give the Vikings its first, fourth, fifth and seventh round picks to acquire the third overall pick. As expected, the Cleveland Browns used that pick to select running back Trent Richardson. Andrew Luck was selected first by the Indianapolis Colts.  Robert Griffin III was selected second by the Washington Washington Football Team.

Richardson finished third in the Heisman Trophy voting behind winner Robert Griffin III and Andrew Luck.  In the 2012 BCS National Championship Game, Richardson rushed for 96 yards and scored a touchdown.  His performance helped Alabama win its second national championship.  For the 2012 season Trent rushed for 1,679 yards and 21 touchdowns.  He also had 338 receiving yards with three touchdowns.

With the 22nd pick in the 2012 draft the Browns selected Brandon Weeden — the quarterback out of Oklahoma State. Weeden turns 29 years old in October because he played minor league baseball for four seasons before joining the Cowboys. Weeden is 6’3″ and has a very strong arm.
