CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) –

Marine Week will land in the Rock and Roll capital from June 11-17.

Throughout the week, Marines will be stationed at Public Square, Gateway Plaza, Voinovich Park and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame giving Clevelanders the chance to talk with the Marines and climb aboard a variety of the Corps’ state-of-the-art aircraft and ground equipment.

Alongside Lieutenant General Steven A. Hummer, Mayor Frank G. Jackson will officially kick-off Marine Week Cleveland at the opening ceremony held in Public Square, Monday at 11:00 a.m. Brook Park Mayor Mark E. Elliott will also be in attendance.

The full schedule of events has been posted, check it out and make plans to attend the events, climb aboard aircraft and ground equipment, watch martial arts and working dog team demonstrations, experience band performances and meet your Marines!

Currently, there are 9,371 active duty and reserve Marines from Ohio serving at home and overseas, including Marines still participating in combat operations in Afghanistan.

At home in particular, Cleveland is served locally by 3rd Battalion, 25th Marine Regiment and Recruiting Station Cleveland. Above, Marines of 3/25 meet with Senator John Glenn, retired Marine and native Ohioan, and Major General Charles F. Bolden Jr. (Ret.).
