OLMSTED TOWNSHIP, Ohio – Police are investigating the theft of five church bells from St. Innocent Orthodox Church.
Father Bulter says the bells were stolen between 12:30 p.m and 7 p.m. Sunday from the church located at 8526 Usher Road.
According to Fr. Butler, someone stole the bells, which were embedded in a wooded frame in the front lawn of the church.
The wooden frame was sawed in half, releasing the brass bells which were imported from Russia. The bells had a total weight of approximately 300 lbs. and were worth thousands of dollars.
Neighbors reportedly witnessed a vehicle in the area that seemed suspicious.
Fr. Butler reported the theft and suspicious vehicle to Olmsted Township Police.
