Former owner of the Cleveland Browns, Art Modell passed away today at the age of 87 of “natural causes” according to his son David Modell.  Art Modell is most known for his highly controversial move of the franchise from Cleveland to Baltimore after the 1995 season and in the process, completely destroying the relationship he established with the fans and citizens of Cleveland.

Modell left the colors and franchise history behind and changed the name of his team in Baltimore to the Ravens.  After just four years in Baltimore, Modell led the Ravens to something he was unable to do in over 30 years in Cleveland, a Super Bowl.  The Browns returned to Cleveland in 1999 as an expansion team but have posted only two winning seasons since their return and thus leaving some fans nostalgic for the “original” Browns.
