A convicted sex offender accused of killing a young Sandusky mother and her two small children appeared in court Tuesday morning on a video monitor.

Curtis Clinton, 41, was arraigned on three counts of aggravated murder in Sandusky Municipal Court. A judge set bond at $3,000,000. Clinton was also arraigned on a rape charge for an unrelated incident. A judge set bond at $25,000 on that count.

Clinton did not enter a plea on any of the aforementioned counts. He is being held in the Erie County Jail, where he’ll stay until another court appearance next Tuesday.

Sandusky police officers on Monday arrested Clinton, whom they say strangled Heather Jackson, 23, and her two children: 3-year-old Celina Jackson and 18-month-old Wayne Jackson III.

Friends of Jackson discovered her body inside her home Saturday night. Her family had been concerned after not hearing from her.

Clinton is believed to have been invited into the home by Jackson. They’d reportedly been acquaintances for a couple of months prior to the murders. Investigators believe he acted alone, but say they do not yet have a motive.

Clinton is no stranger to the law. He is a registered sex offender and has served time in prison for involuntary manslaughter and other charges.

A fundraiser, “Hair for Heather,” runs Tuesday through Friday at Generations Hair Studio, located at 1822 Milan Road in Sandusky.

A fundraising car show will take place at O’Reilly Auto Parts in Sandusky on Sept. 23.
