Holiday jobs with retailers are filling fast. It’s not even Halloween, but already we’re seeing Christmas decorations, and that could be a good sign the economy is getting better.

Several retailers at the Great Northern Mall in North Olmsted tell us they’re busy hiring people for the holidays.  Macy’s and Sears are advertising for holiday help big time, everything from cashiers to sales assistants. Smaller stores are searching too.

Kirlin’s Hallmark manager Susan Earley has already filled two of the five seasonal jobs up for grabs, she says, ” We’re looking for people that will be able to work any shift, because the mall has extended hours as the season progresses.”

The Disney Store has a dozen positions, but, only two more spots need to be filled.  Employees there tell us that’s 40-percent more than last year.

But it’s not just filling jobs on the holiday list for stores getting people like Beverly McCarty to get a jump start on bargains now that are up for grabs several months before Christmas is the goal.  McCarty says, ” There’s better deals out there they’re starting earlier, so why not start early.”

Many retailers are looking to fill those seasonal jobs by the end of the month. Experts says temporary jobs can turn into permanent positions.
