Nearly a year after Whitney Houston’s death, her 79-year-old mother, Cissy Houston is revealing intimate details of the pop icon’s life in the new book Remembering Whitney.

The book is described as “honest and heartbreaking, a mother’s story of tears joy, and her greatest love of all – her daughter, Whitney.”

From Whitney’s earliest days singing in the church choir to her rapid ascent to the pinnacles of music stardom, from her string of number one hits to her topping the Hollywood box office, Cissy recounts her daughter’s journey to becoming one of the most popular and successful artists of all time.

In new excerpts from the book provided to People magazine, Cissy writes candidly about her daughter’s severe drug problem that ultimately led to her demise.

“She started partying and she didn’t really know how to stop,” says Cissy. “I used to wonder what she was doing at night, where she was.”

In her book Cissy opens up for the first time rumors of Whitney Houston having an alleged lesbian relationship with her former assistant/creative director Robyn Crawford.

“I just didn’t want her with my daughter,” she says. “I know nothing about a romantic relationship. That’s what everybody said but they didn’t know either.”
