BEREA,Ohio – The Browns introduced first-round draft pick Barkevious Mingo at the team headquarters on Friday.
Mingo was accompanied by his mother, Barbara, and his girlfriend, Lauren.
Mingo was dressed in a brown jacket and an orange tie as spoke about coming to Cleveland and getting ready to work.
“I just want to get back to playing football. This whole week has been great, but now I am ready to get to work,” Mingo said.
Mingo will wear the number 51, why?
“Because it was the closest number I could get to 49,” he said. That was his number in college.
Browns fans will love the LSU defensive end with his great smile and outgoing personality, but don’t let that fool you. On the field he said “I play with a very high motor.” Mingo said his biggest adjustment will be making the move off the line and into the linebacker spot, where he will have to learn how to cover.
Mingo was asked about his weight and if he would have to pack on pounds to his 6-foot-4, 237-pound frame. He said he can play at this weight and has played lighter at times.
“KeKe” is also learning about the history of Cleveland Browns football.
“I got a quick history from the coaches driving in from the airport today,” Mingo said. He also added with a smile, “I hate the Steelers.”
