Mayor Jackson’s seventh annual Youth Summit and Cleveland Metropolitan School District Back to School Fair is taking place Saturday at Public Hall in downtown Cleveland.

While supplies last, students in attendance can claim free school supplies including; pens, pencils, paper, glue, highlighters and a backpack.

Parents attending the event can also get information on city and school resources and services.

Organizers said the goal of the event is to empower young people and their families to ensure a successful school year. The summit will stress the importance of conduct, courage and character in the development of children.

More than 2,500 students and parents are expected to attend. Free parking is available at the Wlliard Garage across the street from Public Hall.

Hours for the summit and fair are 8 a.m. until 1 p.m.
