*Mo’Nique has been out of the public eye since the cancelation of her BET talk show in 2011. But today we learn the Academy Award winner is looking to come back with yet another talk show, this time for national syndication.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the actress and comedienne who won a best supporting actor Oscar for her work in the 2009 film “Precious,” is working on a syndicated talk show with ABC/Disney that could launch as soon as September 2014.

The show, expected to be aimed at the daytime audience, has not yet been given a firm go, but it is being developed by Vicki Dummer, executive vp current series and specials, for the ABC Entertainment Group.

BET’s “The Mo’Nique Show” ran from 2009-11. If her ABC/Disney project gets the green light, she’ll have some competition from fellow newcomers Meredith Vieira and Marie Osmond. Also, Fox is expected to decide later this month on whether to green light the Kris Jenner talk show and one called “The Real,” a younger-skewing multi-cultural version of “The View” featuring Tamera Mowry, Tamar Braxton and Loni Love.

Mo’Nique would also likely face two other African American talk hosts next fall, Steve Harvey and Queen Latifah, if Latifah survives for another season.

Sources at ABC insist Mo’Nique is not intended as a replacement for Katie, the talk show starring Katie Couric, which is in the second year of its two-year contract with ABC-owned stations and others around the country.
