CLEVELAND – The Cleveland Browns have hired the man they believe can lead the team back to respectability in the National Football League.

That man is Mike Pettine, the now-former Buffalo Bills defensive coordinator.

Pettine becomes the Browns 8th head coach since the team returned to the NFL back in 1999.

In just one year, Pettine took the Buffalo Bills defense from 22nd in the league to #10, based on total yards allowed a game. Ironically, the only bigger jump in that category from 2012 to 2013 was by the Browns who jumped from #23 to #9.

Meanwhile, the Jets defense he led for four year fell from the NFL’s #8 defense in 2012 to #11 in 2013.

Pettine’s aggressive pass rush philosophy set the Bills franchise record with 57 sacks, which was good for second best in the NFL in 2013. The Browns finished 16th in 2013.
