If there’s one thing we can say about former NFL player Kordell Stewart it’s that the Atlanta court system loves him. After finalizing his divorce from reality star Porsha Williams without having to fork over a red cent, Stewart was just awarded primary custody of his nine-year-old-son Syre.
Stewart settled his drawn out custody battle with his baby mama LaeTania Richardson on January 28 of this year. They will have joint custody with the former “Real Housewives of Atlanta” husband getting primary physical custody. Kordell initially filed for sole custody of his son in 2011 when he found out Richardson was moving to California for a new job. LaeTania Richardson responded to those initial court papers by saying Stewart barely ever saw his son so there should be no reason they shouldn’t be allowed to move to California.
In her 2011 response, Richardson told the courts Stewart “after filing the lawsuit, Plaintiff/Father went almost nine days without calling his son or seeking to text his son.” Richardson went on to say Kordell Stewart has never taken his son on vacation despite flying his then fiancée Porsha Williams to various states around the country.
Time has seemed to calm the bad blood between the parents because they settled on a custody agreement that favors Kordell Stewart. Despite Stewart earning nearly seventeen thousand dollars a month and Richardson only raking in six thousand a month, no child support will have to be paid by either party.
Legal documents show the judge decided “Mother and the Child will have to right to communicate with each other over the telephone at Father’s residence at any reasonable time. There should be no illegal drugs or non-prescribed narcotics in the presence of or around the child whenever either parent is caring for the child. The Father shall be the final decision maker should the parties disagree.”
