It’s true that Akon hasn’t been on the public radar regarding his music for a minute, but he sure picked quite a way to get people talking.

According to thesource.com, the Senegalese-American entertainer did in fact perform in a giant plastic bubble at an open-air concert in a large outdoor space neighboring an airport in Goma, the capital city of the Democratic Republic of Congo. The event, attracted as many as 60,000 attendees, and was held in an effort to help raise awareness about the United Nations’ International Day Of Peace.

The site goes on to report that Akon was spotted in the protective bubble when he left the stage to crowd surf with those at the show. The reason behind the large bubble centered on Akon’s efforts to avoid getting Ebola. With recent cases involving the virus being in Africa and the US, cause for concern has been the mind-state of many people.

Interestingly even though Akon won’t say why he performed in a bubble, via a tweet, he is saying the media is portraying him negatively:

While the reason behind Akon’s protective bubble isn’t known at this time, photographic evidence confirms the singer/producer was inside it during his performance, as you see in the above photo.
