Kam Brock filed a lawsuit against the Harlem Hospital Psychiatric Ward and Manhattan Federal Court after she was arrested and thrown in the psych ward for eight days because she told police President Barack Obama follows her on Twitter. Did we mention, he actually does?!
This ridiculous incident occurred last September, when Brock had gone to the NYPD’s Public Service Area 6 to retrieve her BMW (earlier, cops had mistaken her for smoking marijuana). She admits she behaved “emotional” but not “emotionally disturbed.” News reports suggested some kind of verbal altercation went down and when the 32-year-old, Long Island resident tried to reassure cops she was so stable that Obama follows her on Twitter, they handcuffed her and sent her straight to Harlem’s psychiatric ward. As Brock told the Daily News: “Next thing you know, the police held onto me, the doctor stuck me with a needle and I was knocked out.”
Brock was held for 8 days against her will and consent. She was given an outstanding medical bill of $13,637.10 when she was released. Of course, the whole time she was confined, no one bothered to actually check her Twitter account (@AkilahBrock) because the Commander-in-Chief (is still included) among them. Brock is suing for involuntary incarceration and unspecified damages.
