EAST CLEVELAND, Ohio – Dereliction of duty charges against five Cleveland Police Department officers have been moved to East Cleveland Municipal Court, the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor announced Thursday.

The officers were involved in a November 2012 chase and shooting that left two unarmed civilians dead in East Cleveland.

Though the chase began in Cleveland, officers pursued the car into East Cleveland, where the chase ended in a barrage of bullets that killed Timothy Russell and Malissa Williams.

The officers refused a plea deal Wednesday on the charges,which were originally filed with felony charges against Cleveland Ptl. Michael Brelo in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court.
