A gruesome, newly-released video released of a 22-year-old Nigerian student’s last moments inside a jail in Savannah, Georgia may be all the evidence prosecutors need to put those responsible behind bars.
Matthew Ajibade, who Savannah police say was found “unresponsive” in his cell at 1:38 AM on January 2, 2015, was very likely tortured to death, as video shows. The video may be instrumental in convicting the three people involved in Ajibade’s death, who are charged with involuntary manslaughter. Two of the former deputies, Jason Kenny and Maxine Evans — who are seen in the video torturing Matthew Ajibade — have also been indicted on perjury charges in what appears to be a cover-up attempt.
