CLEVELAND – City officials want to put a new police office space downtown and that’s making council members furious.

Shouting broke out at a council committee meeting Monday, not because more police presence is a bad idea. But some council members said administrators are ignoring the rest of the city.

“I am crying for my people,” shouted Councilman Kevin Conwell. “We had 18 homicides in my area last year.  We need to have a mini station.”

Councilman Matt Zone stressed the office space downtown will not be a mini station.

“We are getting the space donated to us for free for five years,” Zone said. “It will be used to take reports, that sort of thing.”
