There were a lot of considerations of food items being served in relating to statements and speeches from Donald Trump.

COLUMBUS – Sen. Bernie Sanders supporters were furious after WikiLeaks released emails from Democratic officials that showed some favored challenger Hillary Clinton.

But what did those emails say about Ohio? The Enquirer searched the trove for references to local officials, candidates and reporters. Most of the emails were drafts of press releases, polls on the tight U.S. Senate race and schedules for campaign events, but here are a few gems:

The election isn’t rigged: A reporter from The Hill sought comment from Democrats after former Sen. Nina Turner, a prominent Ohio supporter of Sen. Bernie Sanders, called for an apology from Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz.

A DNC official said the party was neutral in the Democratic primary – something Sanders supporters have disputed after WikiLeaks released nearly 20,000 party emails, some of which showed Democratic staffers supporting Clinton over Sanders.

“OFF THE RECORD, There’s just no evidence that the process has been rigged,” the official said in an email.

Kasich’s Indiana strategy: Gov. John Kasich’s plan to drop actively campaigning in Indiana to make room for Texas Sen. Ted Cruz stumped Democrats, too.

“Is this real!!??” one DNC staffer asked, forwarding an email from Team Kasich about the pact. “This is pretty crazy,” another replied.

Counter-convention strategies: Democrats had all kinds of ideas to counter the Republican message during the GOP convention in Cleveland. On the list were milk cartons featuring Republicans who will be absent from the convention and a “Trumpocalypse” survival tote bag with a clothespin to hold your nose while voting for Trump and a barf bag.
