Late last year, Kanye West announced his bid for presidency of the United States come 2020, and now, we’re starting to think the rapper was semi-serious about leading the Free World.

The more outspoken half of The Throne sat with BBC Radio 1’s Annie Mac to discuss why he’d be a great president. Admittedly, his qualifications don’t have much to do with American politics – or any politics, for that matter.

“When I talk about the idea of being president, I’m not saying I have any political views, I don’t have views on politics. I just have a view on humanity, on people, on the truth. If there is anything that I can do with my time and my day, to somehow make a difference while I’m alive I’m going to try to do it,” he told Annie.

But the United States government isn’t the only place ‘Ye feels he can accomplish change in the near future. The father of two and husband to reality star Kim Kardashian would also like to link up with Ikea to create minimalist designs for college dorms. A new America and bedroom all designed by Yeezy? Yes, please.

Elsewhere in the interview, Kanye speaks on being humbled – and depressed – after his 2015 Glastonbury headlining performance. Not only was his set petitioned by more than 130,000 people, when he hit the stage his opening track didn’t cue up when expected, which completely threw him off.

He recalled the nerve-racking moment and how it triggered a bout of depression.

“So it really put me into a slightly depressed state and it put me back in the position of when I was in high school and I got fired from my job, or when I played my music for R. Kelly and he told me he was going to sign me and then three months later I didn’t have any money I couldn’t afford a haircut, I couldn’t take my girlfriend to the movies and I’m still in my momma’s bedroom, working on beats and I was that close to being signed by R. Kelly,” he explained.

‘Ye continues: I don’t usually get nervous, I prepare, I get fully prepared. When that music messed up in the beginning it tapped into my nerves and when you’re nervous or vulnerable something special and something different can happen.”

You’ve got to love a man who simply wants to give the world and his family his best. Kanye West for President.
