CLEVELAND, Ohio– He did something people in Cleveland will never forget. He kept his promise to bring one trophy back to Northeast Ohio. Now, with his promise kept, what motivates LeBron James?
In a new Sports Illustrated article, the Cavs star says his motivation has to do with Michael Jordan. “My motivation is this ghost I’m chasing. The ghost played in Chicago,” James said.
“What I’ve gone through is totally different than what he went through. What he did was unbelievable, and I watched it unfold. I looked up to him so much. I think it’s cool to put myself in position to be one of those great players, but if I can ever put myself in position to be the greatest player, that would be something extraordinary,” James said, when talking about Jordan.
James has won three NBA Championships: two with Miami, and, of course, he helped make history in June when he and the rest of the Cavaliers brought home a championship to Northeast Ohio. When talking to Sports Illustrated about his latest championship, James said this one means the most. “This was bigger for me than the first and the second because of everything it represents.”
