CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) –

Former Cleveland Browns player Reggie Rucker was sentenced Wednesday to 21 months in prison.

Rucker, 68, pleaded guilty to using charitable donations to pay gambling debts and personal expenses. He also lied to the FBI when questioned about the funds. He stole nearly $150,000 from Cleveland Peacemakers Alliance Executive and Amer-I-Can from 2011 to 2015 to finance his gambling debts and personal expenses.

Rucker will also have three years of parole after release. He will have to pay $110,841 in restitution. He said he will use part of a settlement with the National Football League to pay that.

A court filing by Rucker’s attorneys said he’s awaiting an estimated $190,000 from the $1 billion settlement after a lawsuit accused the NFL of ignoring dangers of concussions. Some players covered by the settlement objected, so it could be delayed.
