BEREA, Ohio– The Cleveland Browns confirmed on Tuesday that the team signed QB Charlie Whitehurst.
Whitehurst is 6’4″, 226 pounds and officially in his 11th NFL season out of Clemson. He was originally selected by San Diego in the third round of the 2006 draft, and has appeared in 24 career games with nine starts.
Last season, he appeared as a reserve in four games with Indianapolis. He has also appeared in games for San Diego, Seattle and Tennessee.
Rookie QB Cody Kessler will start against Miami this Sunday after Josh McCown and Robert Griffin III were injured.
