On Wednesday, one day before the start of the NBA Finals, reports surfaced that LeBron James’ Los Angeles home had been vandalized with racist graffiti.
James was asked about the incident in a media session and said, “It just goes to show that racism will always be a part of the world, a part of America. Hate in America, especially for African-Americans, is living every day.”
James went on to say, “No matter how much money you have, no matter how famous you are, no matter how many people admire you, being black in America, it’s tough and we’ve got a long way to go for us as a society and us as African-Americans until we feel equal in America.”
While many were quick to express disgust at what happened to James’ home, Fox Sports One host Jason Whitlock had a different take.
During “The Herd with Colin Cowherd,” Whitlock suggested James was overreacting to the incident, describing it as a “disrespectful inconvenience” to James.
Whitlock when on to say James has, “fallen into the far-left trap of there’s value in embracing your victimhood.
“Racism is an issue in America, but is primarily an issue for the poor. It’s not LeBron James’ issue. He has removed himself from the damages and the ravages of real racism.”
