We always hear Tom Joyner is the Fly Jock, the hardest working man in radio, however you wouldn’t have heard The Tom Joyner Morning Show in Cleveland, OH without the hardest working woman in radio, Dauphne Walker.
Dauphne Walker was a well known radio personality, heard live every Saturday morning on the airwaves and producer of the Tom Joyner Morning Show on 93.1 WZAK in Cleveland, OH. On July 7, 2017 her radio legacy became legendary as she passed away from this earthly life to find homage in the airwaves of Heaven.
Dauphne was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio and attended Cleveland Public Schools, Paul Revere Elementary, Nathan Hale Junior High, John Adams High School and went to Cuyahoga Community College. Dauphne studied nursing and became a Nursing Assistant and a LPN. But that was not Dauphne’s calling. So, Dauphne went back to school at the Ohio School Of Broadcasting and studied broadcasting Radio and Television.
Dauphne landed her first internship at 1490 WJMO, Solid Gold Soul, in 1991. She worked in the newsroom which landed her first job in broadcasting at Zapis Communication, 93.1 WZAK in 1992. Dauphne became the overnight jock from 1993- 2000. Dauphne has worked every shift on 93.1 WZAK until 2003. In 2003 Dauphne became the The Tom Joyner Morning Show Producer, which she is still holding down to this day.
Dauphne enjoyed cooking for her family, growing plants, decorating, comedy, playing Wii with her Mom and getting a party started. Plus, Dauphne loved her Cleveland sports teams. Music is my passion, I love all types of music.
If you were to ask Dauphne how are you doing? She would reply; “I’m Blessed By The Best!” I have been with 93.1 WZAK for almost 2 decades and God is not done with yet.
