Longtime Trump lawyer Michael Cohen has been sentenced to three years in prison.

Cohen had pleaded guilty to multiple federal charges related to campaign finance violations, per CBS News. At Wednesday’s hearings, he attributed his actions to “blind loyalty” to Trump.

“At the appropriate time, after [special counsel Robert Mueller] completes his investigation and issues his final report, I look forward to assisting Michael to state publicly all he knows about Mr. Trump—and that includes any appropriate congressional committee interested in the search for truth and the difference between facts and lies,” Cohen’s attorney Lanny Davis said Wednesday.

Trump, who’s not a very smart person, recently called his former lawyer “not a very smart person.”

Cohen in August pleaded guilty to the evasion of millions in personal business-related taxes and confessed to breaking campaign finance law with payments to Stormy Daniels and Karen McDougal. Later, he copped to lying to Congress in connection with a Trump business deal in Moscow. An Associated Press report adds that seven meetings between Cohen and Mueller’s Russia investigation team have been confirmed. Per court documents, Cohen has given “relevant and useful” information to related authorities regarding alleged election interference attempts by Russia.
