In the 1st round of Wimbledon 2019 15 year Cori Gauff a wild card draw upset her idol Venus Williams.

Cori Gauff who grew up in Atlanta, GA started playing tennis at the age of 7. She was moved to Delray Beach, FL so she would have a better chance to train for tennis. This move defiantly paid off as she is the youngest ever finalist in the girls’ singles event at the US Open. She won the Junior French Open in 2018, the second-youngest to do so. She is also the youngest female to qualify for a Grand Slam tournament main draw, and the youngest player overall to qualify for the main draw at Wimbledon.

Serena Williams sister of Venus say’s that Cori Gauff reminds her of Venus Williams when she plays.

A very humble Cori Gauff was asked what music she was listening to when she was getting ready to face Venus Williams and her response was ‘Humble’ by Kendrick Lamar. After the match Cori Gauff humbly thanked Venus for being an inspiration to her and other young girls that are trying to graciously follow in her footsteps.
