You’ve either fallen in or out of love to at least one of Brian McKnight’s songs, maybe even made a baby, or gotten married to one. His timeless odes to are reflected in song titles like “Anytime,” “Love Is,” “Back At One,” and “You’re The Only One For Me.” And he’s a romantic in real life, too. The divorced father of two proposed to his current girlfriend from the stage on Valentine’s Day this year.

Now hosting “The Brian McKnight Show” in syndication, McKnight is also starring with Vivica Fox in the play, “Cheaper to Keep Her,” touring around the country through the fall. But in the meantime, he’s stopping by “The Tom Joyner Morning Show” for an In Studio Jam.

QUOTABLE QUOTES:

“Now, at the touch of a button, people can access you, so you have to think of new and creative ways to have yourself out there. At the click of a button, they are off onto the next joker. You gotta figure out what sets you apart from them, but at the same time, you have to be enough like everyone else to be accepted. I don’t recommend this business to anyone. It’s not as easy as you think.” – Thabiz.com (2006)

“Every single song is a moment of time in my life. I can’t say that I have a favorite. I have just been so blessed to do something that I love for almost 20 years and actually be able to make a living from it and be able to touch people’s lives over the course of those years. That in itself is something that I marvel at everyday, that I can still walk down the street and people are like, ‘Hey, Brian! Your song!’ You’re like, ‘Are you serious?’ ‘Cause there’s so many artists that have come and gone in that time who don’t have half the body of work. I mean, for a minute there, I was putting out a record every 13 or 14 months.” – Clutchmagonline.com (2008)

“It’s always been my goal to try and bring back real R&B music. When I was growing up, it was all about the 70s’ soul men. From the first time I ever stepped into a studio, my daydream was to pick-up where Marvin Gaye left off.”
