Northeast Ohio: Snow Accumulation On Thanksgiving A Real Possibility

Winter is still more than a month away, but that doesn’t mean snow in Ohio isn’t on the horizon.
If you’ve lived in the area long enough then you know to expect the unexpected. Northeast Ohio, along with much of the Midwest, has seen weeks of above-average temperatures.
FOX 8 reports that those days may be coming to an end soon.
According to meteorologist Scott Sabol, “Our confidence is increasing that temperatures will be trending below normal with higher confidence that we will end up with some accumulating snow during the week of Thanksgiving.”
While that isn’t exactly an official forecast, it is certainly something to keep an eye on.
Last year, Cleveland’s first big snow didn’t come until January. We’ll see how it plays out for us this season.
A Few Winter Reminders
You may have noticed your local grocery store beginning to display winter essentials that should be in every home.
You don’t want to wait until it’s too late, so you may want to pick up some of the following items the next time you’re out:
- Rock salt/Ice melter: When snow falls there’s nothing worse than having an icy walkway or driveway. Don’t forget to consider routes that others may use to reach your doorstep, like the mailman or delivery drivers.
- Snow shovel/snow blower: Even if you have a dedicated snow removal service on standby, you always want to be able to clear snow yourself in case of emergencies.
- Emergency supplies: A three-day supply of non-perishable food and water per person, plus a first aid kit and prescription medications
- Extra food for your pets: When blizzards hit and traveling is near impossible, it’s best to have this essential item on hand so our furry friends don’t suffer.
