Nia Long Graces the cover of Monarch Magazine and explains her keys to keeping a positive image in the game.
Nia Long is one of few actresses that when her name is brought up, nothing but smiles and compliments follow. We have seen Nia in many movies but most of all we remember her as a personable and approachable woman whose sexiness is just icing on the cake compared to her work ethic and positive persona.
Monarch Magazine, a popular national magazine that captures the essence of the business, professional, and cultural lifestyles of African Americans, has just released their Summer Issue. Along with a new look and exciting new features, Monarch Magazine displays an ultra sexy photo spread of the actress that accompanies an in depth interview on her career.
From the beginning Nia explains what it means to her to be successful and how she’s managed to maintain a positive attitude towards her career along with a positive image in a game that has done many dirty.
“I think for me it’s just the way I live my life.”-Long says. “I live my life in a way where I just keep it simple. I don’t put a whole lot of extras on anything. I think you get to a certain point in your life where less is more. When you have less, you spend more attention on making things right, and making things sort of clear to people,”
On motherhood, “I have a really busy life,” she says. “I have a nine-year-old son who is super busy with his activities and school, so he is my first priority. So when it comes to my work, I really like to cut to the chase and get the job done.”
On inspiration, “You know, I would have to say my grandmother…she came to this country from a very small island called Granada.She spent years in Trinidad, and she was just such a hard worker…she could talk to me about everything from sex to having a conversation with the president…”
