EAST LIVERPOOL, Ohio– It is an image police officers see just about everyday: People slumped over from an opiate overdose. Often small children are near the person who used drugs, and officers try to save the adult while they attempt to shield young eyes from the ugly side effects of narcotics. So on Wednesday, when officers found […]

In predictable fashion, conservatives got in formation today to attack Malia Obama for having the nerve to dance at Lollapalooza. The complaints on social media ran the gamut, from the 18-year-old’s secret service detail “incurring costs to taxpayers,” to her decision to ignore “women’s history being made” at the Democratic National Convention. And then there were the racists and […]

“To know that 20/20 had access to Holtzclaw and we are being denied knowledge of his whereabouts is a great injustice, and re-victimizes the innocent women he sexually assaulted,” attorney Damario Solomon-Simmons said.   Ex-Oklahoma City police officer Daniel Holtzclaw, who was sentenced in December to 263 years in prison for raping Black women, proclaimed […]

Ciara vocally slayed during her performance of the national anthem at the College Football Playoffs championship game last night, but it’s her dress that has lots of people talking. The long, flowing white dress had a cutout triangle at her chest made of semi-transparent material, and this was enough to cause a stir on Twitter, as many folks called […]

During a Monday interview with comedian Marc Maron, President Barack Obama used the n-word to drive home the point that the shunning of the word in today’s society doesn’t magically make our society post-racial. If last week’s massacre at Charleston, South Carolina‘s Mother Emanuel AME Church is any indication, that’s public knowledge. Accused gunman Dylann Roof reportedly told […]

After grabbing a coffee this morning I was greeted by a 14-year-old girl in tears. This girl just so happens to be one of my most favorite people on the planet so I immediately wanted to know what was wrong. As she wiped the flowing tears from her eyes and attempted to gain control of […]

News that the U.S. has been spying on foreign leaders has dominated headlines this week. Could it really be that President Obama didn’t know about the surveillance? With hit shows like “Scandal” addressing such a scenario (B-613, anybody?), is pop culture imitating the U.S. government? Today on “NewsOne Now,” Roland Martin spoke with Professor […]

Geraldo Rivera has issued a public apology for his explosive comments about Trayvon Martin's hoodie. Martin, an unarmed teenager, was shot dead by a self-appointed neighborhood watch volunteer in late February. His death and the controversial police handling of the case have sparked outrage across the country. Rivera added to the uproar on Friday when he said that Martin was partially responsible for his own death because he had been wearing a hoodie when he was killed. "I'll bet you money, if he didn't have that hoodie on, that nutty neighborhood watch guy wouldn't have responded in that violent and aggressive way," he said.
