NEWBURGH HEIGHTS, OH (WOIO) – It began when Newburgh Heights Officer Sarah Bittner questioned two men who had been arguing outside a bar on Harvard Avenue. The younger man took offense because the officer had a Taser in her hand, which she did not use. He repeatedly asks “why was you gonna taze me” and refused […]

*With a notable work on the small screen (“Ally McBeal”) and big screen (“Love Jones,” “Devil in a Blue Dress”), the ‘90s belonged to Lisa Nicole Carson. But something happened during that time that resulted in the sexy actress disappearing from our public radar. As it turned out that “something” turned out to be bipolar […]

It’s not often you’ll see D.L. Hughley‘s vulnerable side, but when it comes to his children it’s inevitable. He recently appeared on “Oprah: Where Are They Now” where he discussed his son Kyle who lives with Asperger’s syndrome. At the age of 26, his son lives a pretty normal life, but he’s confined to a […]

Being a funny man every single day is never easy, and it hasn’t been for Wayne Brady. Because of his roles on “Whose Line Is It Anyway?,” “Chappelle’s Show,” and “Let’s Make a Deal” it makes it hard to believe that he’s been depressed for quite some time. In an interview with “Entertainment Tonight,” the […]

I was saddened to learn of the resignation this week of Gabino Zavala, Auxiliary Bishop of the Los Angeles Roman Catholic Archdiocese. This is not another sexual abuse case involving a priest. Like many, I am skeptical of the Catholic Church. It's a sketchy place. And yet, as a resident of Los Angeles, I benefit from the Church's moral and financial presence here -- a presence that lifts up entire sections of the city. This is particularly the case in Latino communities, which make up 65 percent of the 5 million Catholics living in Los Angeles. The strength of these communities is the strength of LA.

Republican activists want a candidate who is not just conservative on nearly every issue, but has been so his or her entire career. A good enough politician to debate and then defeat President Obama. Charismatic too. They’re still looking. The overwhelming victory by businessman and longshot candidate Herman Cain in a straw poll here Saturday […]

WASHINGTON — Young adults are the recession’s lost generation. In record numbers, they’re struggling to find work, shunning long-distance moves to live with mom and dad, delaying marriage and raising kids out of wedlock, if they’re becoming parents at all. The unemployment rate for them is the highest since World War II, and they risk […]
