CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) –

Cleveland Police are investigating after one of their own was attacked on W. 9th early Monday morning.

Officers were called to 1408 W. 9th Street around 2:30 a.m. for an off-duty officer that was assaulted. When police arrived on-scene they found him sitting on the curb bleeding from the mouth.

19 Action News has learned the officer is Sean Gorman, who was struck by a drunk driver while sitting on his motorcycle back in 2008.

EMS transported him to MetroHealth Medical Center.  He suffered severe facial injuries.

After investigating, officer discovered that Gorman was escorting two females to their vehicle when they were approached by two black males in a white Charger or Camaro.

The suspects began harassing the women and Gorman showed his badge and identified himself as a police officer.  He told the males to stop, but they didn’t.

They got out of the car and began assaulting him, before getting back in their car and fleeing.

The suspects are described as a black male, 5′ 10″, 180 pounds, medium complexion with a mustache wearing blue jeans and an orange and brown shirt.  This male was the driver.

The passenger is described as a black male, 5′ 7″, 160 pounds, light complexion wearing blue jeans and a light colored shirt.

The Cleveland Division of Police is asking that anyone with information about this incident to contact the Division of Police at 216-623-5464.
