The Dos and Don’ts of Confessing a Sex Dream to Your Man

by Melissa Melms, Glamour

What do you do when you’re getting some zzz’s and you’re interrupted by a super sexy sex dream…that’s not about your partner? There’s a fine line between when you should spill the beans and when you should keep it (and, ahem, all that hotness) to yourself.

When I have sex dreams about J, I always confess to him. I like to tell him he’s always on my mind, even subconsciously. But when I’m a big ole hussy frolicking with celebs (or worse-someone real, eek!) I rarely think about while awake? NO WAY. I just feel dirty and wrong. Sometimes people pop into your dreams for no real reason at all. And that’s where they should stay!

This week I broke my rule: I confessed a super slutty dream to J. First I got frisky with Zach Braff (who, by the way, is not even on my celebrity crush list. I think it all stems from this post when I started following him on Twitter!), and then I got frisky with J. It was SO weird that I thought it was OK to fess up. But now J keeps teasing me, calling Braff my new boyfriend. I don’t even really like Zach!

So, to help us all, we need to set some guidelines for confessing a sex dream:

Do confess the dreams that your guy is part of. He’ll like hearing that you’re thinking about him that way and, hey, it can double as dirty talk for foreplay.

Don’t ever, ever, ever fess up to a sex dream with an ex. Unless your feelings for him are coming back (in which case, you have some more explaining to do), there’s no reason to go there and hurt your boyfriend or husband.

Do confess any and all celeb dreams to your BFFs. Who doesn’t want to hear about the way Ryan Gosling threw you up against the wall? You lucky, lucky girl. Just limit the ones you tell your man, even if they’re funny. He probably doesn’t want to hear about your wild night with any perfect 10s, but your mysterious run-in with Conan O’Brien? Probably safe.

Don’t be a pest about it. Just because you spilled the beans about your dream doesn’t mean that your man automatically has to now too. It is just a dream, after all!

Do mention a sex dream to your guy and let him know that you want to try it in real life. Even if it wasn’t with him, you can pretend it was and use it as motivation to get out of a sex rut. So, you know, dream big!
