CLEVELAND – The Indians and manager Terry Francona agreed to a two year contract extension. The team announced the news Tuesday morning. The deal includes club options for 2019 and 2020.
The 55-year-old Francona has kept the Indians above the .500 mark in each season he has led them at Progressive Field. It’s the first time since 2000-2001 that has happened. His mark is 177-147 (.546) over the two year tenure.
In 2013, Cleveland reached the post season, dropping a decision to the Tampa Bay Rays in the Wild Card game.
