Despite what people may say and think about the union of Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz, these two are true inspirations with HUGE hearts.

The power couple adopted an entire village in Soweto, South Africa, where they pledged to build homes, schools and provide jobs for the men in the village. In the video below, Beatz talks about how they came to the decision to adopt this village.Apparently, the couple traveled to Soweto to film a mother, living with AIDS, and her daughter. The film shows the difference in the woman’s health and life with her daughter before and after she begins to take the medication that Keys’ charity “Keep A Child Alive” provides to people living with the disease in Africa and India.

The two fell in love with the people in the village and their attitudes of gratitude despite their conditions.

Well-known celebs such as Angelina Jolie, Madonna and Sandra Bullock have been in the news for adopting children from Africa or of African-American descent, but to adopt a whole village is altruism to the 10th power. With all the sensationalism reported about celebs, it’s nice to see stars who use their money and fame to benefit others.

Here’s the full interview with Beatz talking about the adoption.
