See the shocking dashcam video as a father puts his little girl’s life in danger running from police!

NEW PHILADELPHIA, Ohio – Around 11:30 Saturday morning, New Philadelphia Police officer Shawn Nelson spots a suspicious driver, and does a U-turn to get a better look.

That’s when the chaos began.

Police say the driver, Robert Goldsmith, 30, immediately started speeding through town, trying to lose the officers on his tail.

Dash cam video shows the chase quickly moving from areas of busy traffic, to rural, country roads. Officer Nelson says they lost Goldsmith for a few minutes, then he suddenly appeared again on a winding road.

At this point, officers say they were driving well in excess of 100 miles an hour.

Officers say they lost Goldsmith again in all of the dust and dirt stirred up from the chase, but neighbors pointed police in the right direction.

They saw him ditch his car and take off on foot and there was a surprise.

He had his 7-year-old daughter with him.

An hour later, officers spotted Goldsmith and his terrified little girl, on the run in an open field.

Officer Nelson says as they were arresting Goldsmith, his confused daughter thought she was in trouble, too. “When the unit advised the suspect to lay on the ground, she lay prone on the ground, as if she had done something wrong and she was crying, saying she just wanted to go home,” said Officer Nelson.

Bound in shackles, Goldsmith made his initial court appearance Monday, and he faces a handful of charges, including child endangering,

Police also had an outstanding warrant on Goldsmith for a minor traffic violation which is why they say he took off in the first place.

Now, he faces up to five years behind bars.
