CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) –

A Cleveland homeowner shoots a teenage boy in the chest during a home invasion.

The incident happened around 10:20AM on Kennedy Avenue.

Police say the man heard a noise at his window, and when he went to check it out with his gun in his hand, he noticed damage to the window.

The teens fled when the man came into the room, but the man said one of the teens reached into his waistband as if going for a weapon and turned towards him, so he fired one shot hitting the 16-year-old in the chest.

EMS responded to Cumberland where the teen had fled, he was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center.

Police also have an 18-year-old in custody and are looking for a 15-year-old.

The homeowner told police he has been burglarized at least three times in the past few years.

Police also found a knife in the backyard, but they are not sure who it belongs to.
