NEW YORK CITY – A large crowd is expected  to gather in Times Square on Wednesday, December 28, for the 5th annual “Good Riddance Day.”

It’s a chance to say so long to whatever made you feel blue in 2011. People are encouraged to destroy their bad memories with a giant paper shredder or sledgehammer, provided by Times Square Alliance.

If you can’t make it to the Big Apple to part ways with your troublesome 2011, you can submit the bad memories online ( mobile users follow this link: http ://bit.ly/rIYsPp ) via the website before the end of the day.

The person with the most creative entry will win an iPad2.

“Good Riddance Day” was inspired by a Latin-American tradition in which artifacts from the previous year are stuffed into giant dolls and burned.
