This unconventional diva shook up the R&B world with hits like “Ask Me What You Want” and crazy album covers that featured her in skimpy clothes and even sitting on the toilet. Though not given a lot of credit for it, Jackson was also one of the earliest female pioneers of rap with 1980’s “I Had to Say It.” But it was her raunchy lyrics and sexy stage shows that have made Jackson an icon of the times.
