Oprah and Jerry are long gone, and Rosie has one foot out the door. But Chicago is about to become home of a new national talk show — thanks to Steve Harvey.

NBCUniversal Domestic Television Distribution announced Monday that a new syndicated daytime talk show hosted by the veteran TV personality, comedian, radio host and author will be produced at the NBC Tower studios of WMAQ-Channel 5, starting this fall.

The hourlong weekday Steve Harvey, produced by Endemol USA, is expected to focus on “relationship themes,” including romance, marriage, parenting, friendship and the workplace.

“We are thrilled to host and launch the new Steve Harvey show at NBC Tower,” Larry Wert, president and general manager of NBC 5 Chicago, said in a statement. “This production will create new jobs and a destination for studio audiences here in Chicago. As we welcome Steve Harvey, NBC 5 will be unveiling our new best-in-class HD studio facility, which will further Illinois’ efforts to bring new film projects to the state.”

The show already has been sold to station groups representing more than 90 percent of the country, including all 10 NBC-Owned Television Stations. In Chicago, the show will air at 2pm Monday through Friday on NBC 5 Chicago.

Harvey is expected to continue to host his daily syndicated radio show since 2000, The Steve Harvey Morning Show, which airs in Chicago on Clear Channel urban adult contemporary WVAZ-FM (102.7).
